Individual Health Insurance

Help with Marketplace plans, plus affordable alternatives for you and your family.

Health Coverage That Fits Your Life

Whether you are between jobs, self-employed, retiring early, or simply shopping for a better rate, we compare the options and explain what each one does and does not cover.

We can help you sign up for the plans offered on the Marketplace. We cannot offer individual ACA qualified plans off of the Marketplace with any company — but we do offer alternative plans at more affordable prices, and those are short term medical, limited benefit plans, and Medi-Share.

Short Term Medical

Short term medical is an immediate-issue, customizable health plan that can bridge a gap in coverage quickly and affordably. It is a good fit if you are between jobs, or cannot qualify for or afford COBRA.

  • Up to 364 days of coverage
  • Immediate approval for qualified applicants
  • No paperwork — you enroll online

We work with several carriers for short term medical, so you can start a quote online right now:

Limited Benefit Health Plans

Also known as hospital and doctor fixed indemnity plans, these pay a set amount for a covered service and give you more affordable premiums in exchange for narrower coverage. UnitedHealthcare's Health ProtectorGuard is one example, with straightforward benefits for doctor visits, hospital stays, and more.

  • Choose any licensed doctor or hospital in the country.
  • No coordination with other forms of insurance — you are paid a fixed amount for a covered service regardless of when or how any other health insurance you carry pays the claim.
  • There is no lifetime maximum benefit.

Medi-Share

Medi-Share is a Christian healthcare sharing program where members pool their financial resources and share the medical expenses of other members. When you join Medi-Share, you select your desired Annual Household Portion (AHP), which works just like a deductible does for traditional insurance. You then make monthly payments that typically cost around 40% less than your premiums would be with normal health insurance.

How Medi-Share Works at the Provider's Office

  1. At your appointment — Present your Medi-Share Member ID card and pay a Provider Fee ($35 for office and hospital visits, $200 for emergency room visits).
  2. The provider submits the bill — The provider sends the bill directly to Medi-Share electronically using the information on your Member ID card.
  3. Medi-Share processes the bill — Medi-Share reviews it to:
    • Determine if it's eligible for sharing based on the member guidelines
    • Check if any network discounts apply
    • Apply it toward your Annual Household Portion (AHP) — the amount your household agrees to pay before eligible bills can be shared among members
  4. Explanation of Sharing (EOS) — Once processed, the provider receives an EOS (similar to an Explanation of Benefits from insurance), and you can view yours in the Member Center.

A key thing to note: even if your AHP hasn't been met yet, providers should still submit all bills to Medi-Share — that way they count toward your AHP and may still qualify for discounts.

Membership is open to Christians who are devoted to living a Christian lifestyle. You will not be quizzed on the Bible or asked to prove you attend church — Medi-Share works largely because it is a community of like-minded members with strong Christian values.

Medi-Share is a healthcare sharing ministry, not insurance. Members share one another's medical costs, and payment of any particular bill is not guaranteed.
