Medicare Supplement

Medicare Supplement or Medigap plans fill in some of the gaps in coverage in Original Medicare.

Deductibles, coinsurance, copayments, and foreign emergency health coverage – all of these are costs you’d normally be responsible for paying out of pocket if you don’t have a supplement plan. Prescription drug plans are another area of coverage we offer that Medicare Parts A & B do not include. We will help you choose the best plan for your needs and budget.

We work to educate our clients and potential clients, helping them understand the options that are available. During our consultation, we ask questions to find out what types of products you are most interested in. Based on the answers, we give the pros and cons of all the options to find the best fit for your needs. We will work hard together to determine which type of Medicare plan is best for you!

We offer Medicare Supplements from multiple companies that supplement Part A & Part B of Medicare – these plans can give you great coverage with very little out of pocket costs. We also offer many Part D prescription drug plans. We help our clients find the best option for the medications and the pharmacy they prefer to use. If a plan is better that we do not offer, we will help the client sign up without compensation because we do what is best for the client.

We also offer Medicare Advantage plans for the clients that cannot qualify for Medicare Supplement or cannot afford the Medicare Supplement. Medicare Advantage plans we offer are through Humana, United HealthCare, Anthem, Reid Health Alliance and Aetna.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sign up for Medicare?

If you are already receiving Social Security, you will be signed up for Medicare when you are eligible. If this applies to you, you will usually receive your Medicare card 3 months before you are eligible. If you are not receiving Social Security and you want to sign up for Medicare, you can do it online at https://secure.ssa.gov, you can call (800) 772-1213 or visit any Social Security office.

What do I need to do after signing up for Medicare?

Decide if you want to purchase a Medicare Supplement and a Prescription Drug plan, or a Medicare Advantage plan that would include drug coverage. If you choose none of these, you will have a lot of out of pocket costs, unless you are eligible for full Medicaid.

Do I have to buy a drug plan if I don’t take any medications?

You do not have to buy the Part D (Prescription drug coverage), but you will be penalized if you do not have creditable drug coverage within 63 days of when you become eligible for Medicare. Medicare calculates the penalty by multiplying 1% of the “national base beneficiary premium” ($33.19 in 2019) times the number of full, uncovered months you didn’t have Part D or creditable drug coverage. The monthly premium is rounded to the nearest $.10 and added to your monthly Part D premium as long as you have Part D.

How do I choose a prescription drug plan?

Premiums and co-pays vary with each company and geographical area. Variations include: deductibles, co-pays, formularies and preferred pharmacies. We help to find the best plan based on the medications you take and where you want to purchase your medications.
